Support

Most setup and connection problems are solved by one of the steps below. If yours isn’t, write to us and we’ll help.

Updated September 24, 2026 · PalmDesk 1.0

Requirements

  • iPhone or iPad with iOS or iPadOS 17 or later.
  • Mac with macOS 14 Sonoma or later, running the free PalmDesk for Mac.
  • On the Mac: Screen Recording for Live Display, Accessibility for pointer and keyboard.
  • On the iPhone or iPad: Local Network access for same-Wi‑Fi connections, and the camera to scan the pairing QR code.

First setup

  1. Open PalmDesk on the Mac and grant the permissions it asks for.
  2. Restart PalmDesk on the Mac after changing privacy permissions; macOS applies them only on restart.
  3. Choose Add Device on the Mac. The QR code and 9-digit code are valid for two minutes.
  4. On the iPhone or iPad tap Add Mac, scan or type the code, compare the fingerprint on both devices and confirm.

My Mac doesn’t appear or shows Offline

  • Check that the Mac is on and awake and PalmDesk is running; its icon is in the menu bar.
  • On the same Wi‑Fi, make sure both devices are on the same network and Local Network access is allowed for PalmDesk in the iPhone’s Settings › Privacy & Security › Local Network.
  • From another network, PalmDesk Pro and Internet Connections in the Mac app are required. The device list shows Nearby, Internet or Offline.
  • Guest and corporate Wi‑Fi often block traffic between devices; PalmDesk then uses the internet route or the relay.

I see the screen but clicks and typing don’t work

Screen Recording is allowed but Accessibility isn’t. On the Mac open System Settings › Privacy & Security › Accessibility, turn on PalmDesk, and restart the app.

The image freezes or looks soft

  • On a weak network PalmDesk lowers the frame rate and bitrate on its own and raises them again once the connection is stable. Give it a few seconds.
  • If Hide sensitive screens is on, Live Display pauses while a password field or an authorization dialog is visible on the Mac.
  • In Active Window mode, the image also freezes when an app in a Privacy Zone comes to the front.
  • Use 5 GHz Wi‑Fi where you can; the relay route has the highest latency.

Presenter notes don’t appear

Allow PalmDesk to control Keynote or PowerPoint when macOS asks (System Settings › Privacy & Security › Automation). Notes are available for Keynote and PowerPoint for Mac, not for decks in a browser.

Removing a device

In PalmDesk for Mac, open Devices and remove the iPhone or iPad. Its trust record is deleted and later requests from it are refused. To use it again, pair from scratch.

Purchases

Restore PalmDesk Pro from the purchase screen in the app. Manage or cancel a subscription in Settings › your name › Subscriptions. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. See Pricing.

Known limitations in version 1.0

  • No audio streaming from the Mac.
  • The macOS login screen can’t be controlled, and a sleeping Mac can’t be woken.
  • A Mac pairs with one iPhone or iPad at a time.
  • Presenter notes aren’t available for browser-based decks.
